The Technical and Air Safety Committee
Chair - Captain Carol Jones
The Committee encompasses all aspects of flying operation. Most of its
recommendations are directed to the Civil Aviation Authority the Department of
Transport. The Committee is responsible for the preparation of the Guild's
contribution to conventions, conference and symposia. It considers all matters
concerning aviation safety; the operation of public transport; the operation
of general aviation aircraft, the common use of airspace by private, public
transport, aerial work and military aircraft as well as any other technical
matters specifically referred to the Committee by the Court.
It appoints sub committees or working groups as necessary to deal with
specific problems. Such working groups collect and present their written
reports and recommendations to the Committee for its consideration and the
action by the Court. Through the Air Safety Trust the Committee invites
eminent lecturers both to address the Guild and to give presentations at the
Annual Sir Frederick Tymms Memorial Lecture and the Sir Alan Cobham Technical
Presentation.
Abbreviated reports of
the proceedings of the committee over the last two years are available.
See index on left. Please
note with effect from May 2006, reports will be in pdf format.
The Committee is also responsible for producing more detailed reports
representing the GAPAN view on certain major issues. A number of theses are
