The Guild takes a close interest in all aspects of the education and training of pilots, licensing and training standards, to meet the changing demands upon their skills arising from the introduction of more sophisticated aircraft and air traffic management techniques.

Of particular concern is the standard of training given at private flying schools and approved commercial flying training schools.

It appoints various sub-committees appropriate to need and has two permenant sub-committees:

The Instructors' Sub-Committee under the Chairmanship of Syd Utting is directly responsible for the planning and hosting of the Senior Instructors Forum held bi-annually at RAF Cranwell. The last forum took place on 9 May 2012.

The Scholarships' Sub-Committee under the Chairmanship of Mrs Tricia Nelmes is responsible for overseeing the Guild's comprehensive flying scholarship programme each year.
